Copper Water, Plain and Steady

Every evening, I fill a copper pot with filtered water, set the lid on, and leave it sitting on the counter. Nothing fancy about it. By morning, it’s the first thing I reach for, mostly because it’s already there and I don’t have to think about it.

They’re always telling you to drink more water like it’s some kind of cure-all, but nobody really explains why it actually matters. Truth is, your body runs on it. It helps keep your temperature in check, keeps things moving through your joints, helps your digestion do its job, and carries what needs to go where it needs to go. It’s also how your body takes out the trash. Not glamorous, but pretty important.

The copper part came later for me. I picked up a solid copper pot and a couple of cups, and now I just fill it at night, add a pinch of mineral salt, and let it sit. By the next day, that water’s picked up tiny trace amounts of copper, which is one of those minerals your body uses in small ways. Things like supporting blood health and general balance. We used to get more of that without trying. Copper pipes, cookware, all that. Now it’s mostly plastic, and that quiet exposure just isn’t there the same way.

I’m not over here acting like it fixes everything. It’s just one of those small things that makes sense, so I stick with it. Best kept simple.

What I didn’t expect is how easy it was to make it a whole-house habit. Nobody had to change a thing. Same water, just coming out of a different pot. My husband drinks it, the family drinks it, and I don’t have to say a word about it because it’s already sitting there.

And if I’m being honest, that’s the real win. I drink more water because it’s ready and waiting, not because I suddenly got disciplined overnight. Turns out, convenience will beat willpower every time.

From The Field: Make the good choice the easy one, and you’ll do it more often.
