Where farmhouse meets fabulous
A little dirt, a little dignity, and a few smart shortcuts along the way.
Homesteading isn’t a place. It’s a way of thinking.
Back to the basics - with room for a little fancy.
I'm a city-girl. We didn’t grow up doing this. We just got tired of trusting the systems that were supposed to make life easier, and seeing they didn’t always hold up in the long run.
So we started figuring things out... a little at a time.
Keeping what worked. Dropping what didn’t. Some of it is dirt, animals, and getting up earlier than we’d like. Some of it is finding a better tool, a cleaner way, or something that just makes the whole thing run smoother. We’re not interested in doing everything the hard way just to say we did. And we’re not interested in pretending store-bought fixes everything either.
We use what works. Old or new. Fancy or plain. This isn’t about land or perfection.
For us, homesteading is choosing to grow more capable and less dependent, wherever you are.
Around here, that means doing it with a little polish, a little grit, and no apology for either.
If it makes life steadier, simpler, or just a little better—we keep it around.
If it doesn’t, it goes. That’s the whole approach. We take what’s useful and leave the rest.
